Return to School of Grade R, 1, 2, 3 and 6
Grade 7 learners have resumed schooling as of Monday, 29 June 2020 after the isolation period recommended by the Department of Health. Grade R, 1, 2, 3 and 6 will return to school on Monday, 6 July 2020. Due to the challenge of social distancing at school, reengineering the schooling system has become necessary and has been recommended by the Department of Education from Grade R to Grade 7. Therefore, all learners will not be expected to attend classes every day so that social distancing can be maintained to a certain extent.
The school has adopted the Alternative Day Approach, with 50% of the learners attending each day. Each class will be divided into 2 groups with each group attending on alternate days. A list of learners according to register order will be placed on the D6 indicating the dates of attendance. There will be no assemblies, extra-curricular activities and the second break will be forfeited. Therefore, learners will be dismissed as follows:
- Grade R – 12:30
- Grade 1 – 12:30
- Grade 3 – 13:00
- Grade 6/7 – 13:30
If a learner is absent on the day he/she is expected to be at school , the learner cannot join the next group as this will compromise social distancing. The learner will only return when the group returns. This also assists the Department of Health with tracing and testing should there be a positive COVID-19 case. All learners will have to leave the school premises promptly as the school will be sanitized and deep cleaned each day. Learners could have an allergic reaction to chemicals used.
Learners who are unwell should remain at home and monitored closely.
Parents may apply for a concession in terms of school attendance for learners with comorbidities (Please refer to KZN Circular No. 49 of 2020 which will be placed on the D6). Complete the application form and return to school.
Once again, we would like to thank you for your cooperation and understanding. The safety of our learners and staff is of paramount importance.
Please speak to your children on a daily basis regarding all safety precautions, especially the little ones in the Foundation Phase.
